Coronation of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume

On October 3, around 50 dedicated Luxembourgers and friends of the Grand Duchy gathered that Friday evening, at Maison du Luxembourg, where the Consul General, Mr. Luc Decker, hosted a reception to celebrate the Coronation of His Royal Highness Grand Duke Guillaume, who succeeded to his Father, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri, who had abdicated earlier that day.

Upon their arrival, each guest was gifted the official monogramme lapel pin of HRH Grand Duke Guillaume and a booklet containing an explanation of the constitutional role of the Grand Duke, his and his wife CVs, and the history of the Nassau dynasty. The new official portrait was unveiled, pictures and a video of the ceremony in Luxembourg were displayed. Mr. Decker gave a speech explaining what took place earlier that day and shared interesting details about Grand-Duke Guillaume. First and foremost: his fluency in five languages; Luxembourgish, French, German, English and Spanish. The Grand Duke is Luxembourg’s Chief Scout. The Consul General also mentioned the Grand Duke’s marriage to Grand-Duchess Stéphanie and their two sons. Until recently, in his capacity as Crown Prince and Honorary Chairman of the Trade and Investment Board, Grand Duke Guillaume has led over 70 economic missions. Mr. Decker expressed his hopes that as a frequent visitor to New York, HRH the Grand-Duke will visit the city in his new capacity. Vive le GrandDuc!
