On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the Luxembourg community gathered at the iconic Luxembourg House in Beekman Place to bid a heartfelt farewell to Paul Steinmetz, thanking him for his exceptional service as Consul General in New York, and warmly welcoming Luc Decker, who stepped into the role on September 1st.
The evening brought together a diverse gathering of artists, business leaders, Consulate partners, members of the Luxembourg American Chamber of Commerce, and friends of Luxembourg. Ambassador Steinmetz was celebrated for his tireless dedication in expanding the Trade and Investment Office’s network, championing Luxembourgish companies in their US endeavors, and engaging with American businesses looking to Luxembourg as a strategic hub for growth. He also nurtured invaluable relationships with major US investors in Luxembourg, such as Goodyear, DuPont, and Guardian Glass. Additionally, his contributions to promoting Luxembourg's rich cultural heritage across the US, building strong connections with artists, galleries, and dance festivals, were warmly acknowledged.
As the torch was officially passed to Luc Decker, the community welcomed him as the new Consul General and Executive Director of the Trade and Investment Office. Luc brings a wealth of experience, having served in the same capacity in Shanghai from 2013 to 2020, before joining the Minister of the Economy’s team as Deputy Chief of Staff. With his team, Luc is eager to build upon Paul Steinmetz’s legacy, continuing to elevate Luxembourg's presence in the US and further strengthen the enduring ties between the two nations.
