Dear friends of Luxembourg,

Following my appointment as Luxembourg’s Consul General and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office in New York City, I would like to express to you how honored I feel to be able to serve not only the community of Luxembourg citizens in the United States, but also the friends of the Grand Duchy, be they current or former expatriates, investors or business partners. I look forward to continuing a tradition of personal involvement with you, reaching out and working with you in order to grow our relationship.

Luxembourg has made its success of the ready accessibility of its decision-makers and its pro-business attitude. Drawing on my experience of working during years with not only our political leadership but also entrepreneurs representing our diversified private sector, I am at your service in order to discuss your projects.

Biography

 

Jean-Claude Knebeler was born on 16th August 1977 in Luxembourg-City.

Mr. Knebeler currently serves Consul General of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in New York City, with jurisdiction over the States of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine.

Furthermore he is the Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade & Investment Office covering the Eastern half of North America, facilitating both American investment in Luxembourg as well as commercial development of Luxembourg companies on the North American market.

Until August 31 2012, Mr. Knebeler held the position of Director General for Trade & Investment Promotion at the Ministry of the Economy & Foreign Trade. He provided advice to the Minister on bilateral trade affairs as well as on strategy and policy promoting Luxembourg's economy globally.

Mr. Knebeler chaired the Committee for the Promotion of Luxembourg Exports, was a member of the Consultative Committee on Foreign Trade and the Luxembourg Board of Economic Development as well as Chairman of the Russia-Luxembourg sub-commission on bilateral economic relations.

He held board positions at the Office du Ducoire (the public export insurance provider) and Enovos International S.A. (an energy production and distribution company). Between October 2009 and September 2011, Mr. Knebeler was a member of the board at Cargolux International Airlines S.A. (Europe's leading all-cargo airline).

Mr. Knebeler furthermore represented the Ministry of the Economy & Foreign Trade in the executive management of Luxembourg for Business, the public-private partnership promoting Luxembourg on the global marketplace and had a leading role in Luxembourg @ Shanghai 2010, the organization preparing the Grand Duchy's presence at the Shanghai World Exhibition in 2010.

He was educated at the London School of Economics & Political Science in Great Britain and the French senior civil service college, the Ecole Nationale d'Administration, gaining a BSc in Government & Law and a postgraduate diploma in Public Administration. In 2012, Mr. Knebeler completed the Senior Managers in Government executive education program at the Harvard Kennedy School.
