Whether expressed in English “Little Red Dot in Poetry”, in French “Petit Point Rouge en Poésie” or in Luxembourgish, “De Klenge Roude Punkt” is not only Marschal’s theme for this exhibition. It is the signature of all her paintings. It is the essence of the artist’s inner soul and her philosophy on life. Located discreetly, yet in the center of the canvas, Marschal’s Little Red Dot represents a living heart in constant quest for positivity and enthousiasm. The energy and vibrations of this beating heart lift off any boundaries, any hardship one may encounter and teaches her viewers to never give up, and to always believe in oneself and positive outcomes. This emotional centerpiece is by far one of the most convincing messages of Marschal’s creations.
Marschal’s work is a mix of abstract style with figurative references where the eyecatching Little Red Dot allows the presence of an horizontal line which suggests calm and serenity. Marschal’s receives her inspiration directly from Nature, its elements, its seasons and their effects on her soul. She artfully balances between wisely chosen warm or ardent colors to bring out light. Her creations are subtil compositions of chromatic energy. Birds and butterflies serve to express her quest for happiness and hope.
Unlike many artists, Marschal’s overall message behind her creations reveals an artist truly caring for other people and profoundly believing in life for herself and humankind.
About the Artist
Josiane Marschal was born in Schifflange in the South of Luxembourg. She is an accomplished artist, mastering both painting and sculpture. Early on, Marschal’s definite inclination for the Arts translated into her developing natural skills for painting. She started her studies in Luxembourg at the Arts et Métiers and then graduated from the Centre Universitaire en Histoire d’Arts. In addition, she received drawing instructions from Guy Hary, and oil painting from M.T. Gilles and L. Gomes. To broaden her curriculum, she completed her studies in painting and acrylic with H. Walter, instructor in Austria. Since 1987, Marschal has had
numerous solo painting exhibitions in various venues throughout Luxembourg, including the Art Gallery, Beim Engel, Galerie d’Art Déclic, Banque LB-Lux, Casino 2000 Mondorf, Galerie Recto-Verso, Château de Bourglinster, etc. Her work has also been showcased at group exhibitions at the Salon des Antiquaires, at the Galerie Château Wirtgen in Diekirch, as well as in Germany, France, Switzerland and Denmark. “De Klenge Roude Punkt” is her first solo exhibition in New York.
Inspired by her paintings, Marschal extended her passion for Nature toward the realization of monumental steel and copper indoor and outdoor sculptures. Marschal’s Liewensbeem (Trees of Life) are an immortalization of trees reset in the intimacy of their own environment. Showcased by private collectors such as Kredietbank, Banque L.B-Lux and Banque Baumann in Luxembourg, Marschall’s projects are a true glory to the lifeforce of Nature and Life itself.
Marschal resides in Rameldange. In 1998, she opened her workshop Konschtscheier “Um Schlass” in Bourglinster. Assigned by the Chambre des Métiers of Bourglinster, the Ministère de la Jeunesse and the Service National de la Jeunesse, she teaches painting to teanagers and children.
When“De Klenge Roude Punkt” resumes, Marschal’s work will be on exhibit in June/July 2009 at the Château de Bourglinster.
