Certificate of Nationality
REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE ISSUANCE OF A LUXEMBOURG "CERTIFICAT DE NATIONALITE"
All "Certificats de Nationalité" are issued by the Ministry of Justice in Luxembourg. In order to issue you a new "Certificat de Nationlité" the Consulate needs to submit the following documents to the Ministry of Justice. Any incomplete application will not be accepted.
I. Adult (18 years or older)
| 1. | The expired "Certificat de Nationalité”. If you never had a "Certificat de Nationalité", the Consulate needs a notarized copy of your birth certificate. |
| 2. | Copy of your passport. |
| 3. | A certified copy of the valid Alien registration card (Green card). |
| 4. | Signed “ Declaration of non US Citizen” or if you have dual nationality from birth, a signed “ Declaration of Dual Nationality”. |
| 5. | A proof of address (copy of driving license, bills etc.). |
| 6. | Fees: $7.00 (for 1 year validity). Payable only by cash / or money order to the attention of "The Consulate General of Luxembourg". |
II. Minor (less than 18 years old)
| 1. | The expired "Certificat de Nationalité”. If you never had a "Certificat de Nationalité", the Consulate needs a notarized copy of your birth certificate. |
| 2. | Copy of your passport. 3. A certified copy of the valid Alien registration card (Green card). |
| 3. | Signed “ Declaration of non US Citizen” or if you have dual nationality from birth, a signed “ Declaration of Dual Nationality”. |
| 4. | A proof of address (copy of driving license, bills etc.). |
| 5. | Fees: $7.00 (for 1year validity). Payable only by cash / or money order to the attention of "The Consulate General of Luxembourg". |
| 6. | Copy of the passport of both parents / or the one who has the Luxembourg nationality. |
| 7. | Copy of the marriage record of the parents and / or copy of the divorce record. |
| 8. | Copy of the valid Alien registration card of the parents. |
| 9. | Proof of address for both of the parents (copy of driving license, bills etc.). |
| 10. | A certified document signed by both parents saying that the child is living with them or a certified document signed by the legal parent saying that the child is living with him. |
Please note that it will take approximately four weeks for the issuance of your new "Certificat de Nationalité".
